LOGON TROUBLE:
We have found that sometimes Windows has a problem with a PAP (PasswordAuthentication Protocol) login and will report password problems which keeps youfrom getting connected. If you are experiencing this problem, here is a way ofbypassing the PAP login.

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS:
Select MY COMPUTER from your desktop. Then open the Dialup Networking Folder,then RIGHT CLICK, with your right mouse button, on your Internet connectionIcon. This is normally HOT or some HOT Dialup connection. Choose PROPERITIESfrom the bottom of the POP up menu. On the Properities window select CONFIGUREbutton near the bottom of the window. At the CONFIGURE window select the OPTIONStab at the top. At the Options Windows select BRING UP TERMINAL WINDOW AFTERDIALING. Click OK and then back out to your desktop.

The Terminal Window will open after the modems connect and you will see aLogin: prompt on a text screen. After typing your login name: (YourAccountName@heartoftn.net)and pressing ENTER you will see the Password: prompt. Enter your password andENTER. Click CONTINUE after the login to continue on.

If you see trash or odd characters then your connection problem may be due tonoise on your phone line. If not then please call and we will assist you infinding the problem.

 


Changing Phone Number: On Windows Systems you need to:Select My Computer, Dial-Up Networking, Right Click on the HOT Network Icon,Select Properties at the bottom of the Pop Up Menu. Change the Phone Number,Then click OK back out of the setup program. If you aredialing 1 or an area code you may be charged for a long distance call. Checkwith your phone company to be sure.

All logins begin with a username followed by @heartoftn.net Example:username@heartoftn.net
DNS Server Changes: DNS Settings should be set for Dynamic. OnWindows Systems you need to: Select My Computer, Dial-Up Networking, Right Clickon the HOT Network Icon, Select Properties at the bottom of the Pop Up Menu.Select Server Types, Select the TCP/IP Settings Button near the bottom of thewindow. then select Server Assigned Name Server Addresses. Then click OK backout of the setup program. This will set the Dynamic Name Server to Auto Assignthe DNS.
REPORTING ABUSIVE EMAILS Header Information must be included with abusiveemails.

SLOW CONNECTIONS: Windows 95 Users, If you are experiencingslow response after the modem has connected, you may have the logon to networkchecked in your dial-up networking setup. This must be turned off for betterperformance. Windows 95 systems set this on by default. Windows 98 does not. Tochange this setting; Open My Computer on your Desktop, Open Dial-Up NetworkingFolder, RIGHT Click with your RIGHT mouse button on the HOT Connection icon,then choose PROPERTIES with your left mouse button. Select the SERVER TYPESbutton or TAB and DESELECT (Un-Check) the Log On To Network box. Click OK backout of the program. Your logins should be much faster.
