Tennessee Consumers Tax Notice

On May 18th 2004, the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee enacted legislation
establishing the procedure for Tennessee consumers of Internet access services to obtain
a refund of the sales tax they have paid to service providers. This legislation was enacted
in response to the Tennessee Court of Appeals’ 2003 ruling that charges for Internet access
services are not subject to sales tax in Tennessee.

If you are a Heart Of Tennessee Network Internet access customer, you may file a claim for
refund of the sales tax amount we have collected from you on your Internet access service, beginning December 1, 2000 through December 31, 2003.

You will need to complete the Request for Refund form (located at the link below) and mail it to Heart Of Tennessee Network, postmarked by July 17th, 2004. If our billing records indicate you are entitled to a refund of sales tax previously paid by you to Heart Of Tennessee Network on your Internet access service, we will provide you with a refund.
